Up and coming artist, Amelia Moore, brings fresh energy to emotional honesty on her debut EP, ‘teaching a robot to love’
On the surface, Amelia Moore’s journey to the top of rising artist lists looks like it happened overnight. The reality couldn’t be further from the truth. Amelia may only be 21 years old, but she has been working her ass off to develop her raw musicality into its current form from the time she was barely out of diapers. Her story hits the classic checkpoints, a young girl in a small town with big dreams who is determined to get to the big city and become a star. She attacked school with the same intensity, finishing up high school early at the age of 16 before heading off to Nashville to attend Belmont University. It took a year and a half of college classrooms and a-bar parties for Amelia to figure out that her hear wasn’t in finishing her degree. It was fully invested in making her career in music happen. So deciding to plunge fully in, Amelia packed up her bags and headed out west, bringing her futuristic style of music along with her.
Seeing Amelia Moore on camera for the first time, one could be forgiven for assuming she grew up in a household that encouraged her to explore and express her true inner self and not a religiously conservative Southern household. Born and raised in Lawrenceville, Georgia, Amelia showed a proclivity for melody from the time she was four years old and decided to pick up a violin. That wasn’t enough for Amelia though, her desire for a creative outlet driving her to quit violin and pick up piano. At the age of 13, she started writing her own songs, and two years later joined a group of other young songwriters in Atlanta who worked together to strengthen their song writing and musical development. One thing that’s clear is that from jump, Amelia knew she had a song in her heart, determined to get free.
On June 3, 2022, Amelia Moore dropped her debut EP, teaching a robot to love, a soul-baring journey through the process of shedding a toxic partner. It is the alternating highs and lows roller-coasting through your brain as you take that first deep breath as your own person again. For Amelia, understanding the price of the internal compromises she was making helped fuel the ideas of emotional honesty and perseverance embedded throughout the project. Listening to the album, it’s clear that this project played a significant role in her healing process, expunging the multitudes of toxic energy built up within her to create a beautiful blend of raw emotions and introspection.
